“SPAM” is a mash-up of a group dance event and media art. Participants from different sectors of society are invited to form teams at a dance-off that also reflects on the attributes of participation and observation. “SPAM” at first was a more investigative piece (presented in Singapore and Stuttgart), but then has moved from research and social psychology towards gaming and dance. It now adapts computer games such as “Dance Central”, “Just Dance” and “Dance Dance Revolution” (“DDR”) in which the players dance against the computer, into a group dance competition. It invites participants to observe first-hand their own behaviors as they devise tactics and work in teams.
